Quilt Freedom Monthly Online Workshops

My online workshops are designed to be fun, informative and three hours long. I teach them all from my Gallery/Studio in San Francisco unless I am traveling - in which case they will transmit from a different location.

Patrons get discounted access to these workshops ( $30 instead of $35) as well as early bird access to my other events. Patrons also have a standing invite to join Joe in his Gallery/Studio every Friday afternoon (schedule allowing). Click here to become a Patron.

July 18: Quilt Freedom Workshop 72: Transmission

Growing up with a gay older sister, moving to San Francisco and having many gay friends over the years, I thought of myself as completely open to all sorts of human sexual identity and expression. But gaining a trans daughter gave me a jolt that pierced through my complacency and self satisfaction. I suddenly had to confront her new vulnerability in this current cultural climate, her need to withstand all kinds of attacks simply for existing. So when I heard about Cordy Lee's organization dedicated to making quilts for trans people, I was interested and curious to hear all about it. Along with my gay best friend in the quilt world, Julie Silber, we will have a chance to look at some of the quilts that have already brightened the lives of dozens of trans people and hear about the project from Cordy--some of the shows they have had across the country and their presence at the upcoming Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, England.
